Contact:  Jody Horntvedt, hornt001@umn.edu

Description:  Cultivating Community Conversations for Change (C4) is a new program which consists of a series of events (trainings, community conversations, and a regional forum) designed to engage community members in conversations to deepen their knowledge of community demographics, identify strengths and opportunities, explore resources, and develop strategies for community change. Core to this program are training events which invite leadership program alumni from multiple counties to enhance their skills for extending invitations to new audiences, hosting conversations, and building the social fabric of community. Community conversations center around study circle topics from Everyday Democracy (www.everyday-democracy.org) selected by communities on one of these topics: Building a Healthier Community, Marketing Hometown America, Changing Faces Changing Communities, Facing Racism in a Diverse Nation, One Nation Many Beliefs, Thriving Communities (a discussion of poverty), and Toward a More Perfect Union.
